The Autumn Edit: Nourishing Skin, Body & Mind

As summer gives way to autumn, ilā founder Denise Leicester shares the rituals and formulations she returns to for grounding, nourishment and a gentler transition into the quieter months.

I love this time of year. There is such a natural invitation to slow down, ground ourselves and begin to nourish the skin and body more deeply after the outward energy of summer.

As the days become shorter and the air begins to change, my own rituals change too. I find myself reaching for richer, more nurturing formulations, returning to warming teas and slower evenings, and creating more space for meditation and rest.

There is something very beautiful about allowing our own rhythm to follow nature — doing a little less, listening a little more and allowing ourselves to turn inward.

My Autumn Skincare Ritual

CBD Gold Face Serum & CBD Body Calm

I’m slightly cheating by putting these two together, but for me they belong in the same ritual.

I love CBD at this time of year because it feels so calming and restorative as we make the transition from summer into autumn. After months of sun, travel and time outdoors, the skin can be craving a little more care.

The CBD Gold Face Serum is beautiful for skin that feels stressed or sensitive after summer, while CBD Body Calm has become one of my favourite evening rituals. Taking the time to massage it into the body encourages me to slow down and reconnect with myself at the end of the day.

It turns skincare into something more — a moment of grounding before rest.

Gold Cellular Age-Restore & Inner Peace

As the weather changes, I naturally move towards richer, more nurturing rituals.

I love the Gold Cellular Age-Restore range for bringing a sense of nourishment, luminosity and vitality back to the complexion. Autumn always feels like the right moment to give the skin a little more attention and replenish it after the summer months.

Alongside this, I return to Inner Peace when I want to create a deeper sense of emotional calm and reconnection. For me, beauty and wellbeing have always been deeply intertwined, and autumn is a wonderful time to remember that caring for ourselves extends far beyond the skin.

Face Mask for Renewed Recovery

This is my post-summer reset.

After sunshine, travel and spending more time outdoors, the complexion can sometimes feel a little out of balance. I love the Face Mask for Renewed Recovery as part of a slower ritual to help clarify and brighten the appearance of the skin and bring it back to a feeling of harmony.

Rather than rushing through it, I like to make the mask itself part of the ritual — a reason to stop for a moment and simply be.

Beyond Skincare: My Autumn Rituals

For me, autumn is very much about grounding and coming back into the body.

I start drinking more warming teas — ginger, tulsi and cinnamon are particular favourites — and I love returning to slower evening rituals. A warm bath, a little self-massage with oil, candlelight and less screen time can completely change the feeling of an evening.

These things are simple, but that is precisely what I love about them. They create small moments of transition between the activity of the day and the stillness of night.

I also find myself coming back to meditation and sound more deeply at this time of year. As nature begins to draw inward, there is an invitation for us to do the same.

We don’t always have to maintain the pace and outward energy of summer. Autumn can be an opportunity to listen more closely to what our bodies need, to make space for rest and to reconnect with ourselves.

Following Nature’s Rhythm

For me, this is really what autumn wellbeing is about: nourishing the skin, calming the nervous system and preparing the whole being for the quieter months ahead.

Rather than seeing the change of season as something we need to resist, I love embracing it as an opportunity to soften our routines and become a little more intentional about how we care for ourselves.

A richer skincare ritual. A warm bath. A cup of ginger tea. A few quiet minutes of meditation.

Small rituals can become beautiful ways of marking the season — reminding us that, just like nature, we are allowed to slow down.
